2/26/2024 Dave Has To Move, We Drink A lot, and Walk To A Waterfall.

The day started with coffee, and writing at a little cafe, called Cafe Ines. Dave joined me, and we ate some Chilaquiles. Then, Dave had to deal with his lodging. The Air BnB host accidentally double booked. There is a yoga retreat taking place in all three apartments where he was. They moved him to another location, and the rest of his stay is free. However, that location is literally on the opposite side of town from where I am staying. It is a 25 minute walk. Dave got a ride over there on an ATV, and I was to walk down to the beach, and we would meet up there.

Anyone who knows me well, is aware that I am directionally challenged. I get lost very easy, and it is problematic for me. However, today was an easy walk. I could see the beach from Dave’s patio. I started my walk to the beach, and was passed by Dave, and the ATV taxi. Soon, I was walking through the residential area we walked through yesterday. When I got to the suspension bridge, I realized I had gone too far. I turned and walked back. I kept looking for the path to the beach, but could not find one. Everything looked like I would be walking into someone’s back yard. Eventually, I found myself back at Dave’s old BnB. I then started walking the other way, and really looking hard for a sign. I finally spotted an arrow that said beach. I followed many signs, as I weaved through buildings, and down stairs. Eventually, I found myself on the beach. I walked down to where the umbrellas were, and tried to spot Dave. When I did, he was sitting under an umbrella, with a Margarita, and giving me the ole middle finger salute. This place is called Sea, and Sun Restaurante. It is the first one you come to if you are traveling south to north.

Apparently, Jesus wanted us to spend this day on the beach. I started with the Modelo Especial. We enjoyed watching some folks para sail. (Or glide, or both?) They would start on the beach, and would get towed by a boat. The boat would tow them out into the bay. They would get up in the air very, very high, surprisingly high. Then, the parachutist would disconnect from the tow line. Finally, he would para-glide back down to the beach. As the day went on, and more folks showed up on the beach. They would show off a bit by flying close the people on the beach. Our server was a cute lady, who gave us excellent service. I did a re-run of the food I had on our first day here.

My fondness for the guacamole, and sirloin tacos here is very strong. I eventually switched to the Modelo Negra. I reapplied my SPF 50 sunscreen many times. I joked with Dave that we were the whitest dudes on the beach. Then, I spotted an amazing epidermis! It was very white, and smooth. It belonged to a very physically attractive red headed girl. I decided she was even whiter than us, and she looked a hell-of-a lot nicer too! I suspect she knows how to protect herself from the sun, but I did have some concern for her. Sometime in the afternoon, I settled a tab for 11 beers, one margarita, one chips and guac, and two orders of sirloin tacos…

We returned back at my lodging. I had some concern that we were not going to make the waterfall hike. I have to work to make sure my fondness of crushing, crushable crevasses does not derail my plans. Luckily, Dave’s will was as strong as mine. Dave has been to this waterfall before, he said it was a short walk, not a hike. For safety reasons, we took a couple cans of Modelo Especial (Turns out they were actually Coronas.) with us on the walk. After a pass through the local Catholic Church, to get get right with Jesus. We made our way through town, and followed the signs to the water fall. We traveled along a concrete and granite foot path. This time of year there is not a lot of rain. So, the fall does not have a large volume of water coming down. However, it is a nice place to be. There is a bar right next to the pond, under the waterfall. It is tended by a nice Hombre who sells his homemade Raicilla. It is a local moonshine that tastes of smoke, and tequila. I only had one sip of Dave’s because I shy aware from distilled spirits. Dave said it was better than last time. I recon the fellow figured out that adding more water to it made it both taste smoother, and it created more product to sell… We swam in the water under the fall. It was the first time I have been fully emerged in water this trip. It felt amazing, and I will work to do it more. The feeling of refreshment was very nice…

La Cabanita is the outdoor restaurant under my BnB. We found ourselves there for dinner, again. I had one Al Pastor, and two Asada tacos. Dave did the opposite. After dinner we enjoyed cigars, and cervasa on my patio. Eventually Dave headed out on the long walk home. He checked in this morning to let me know he was sleeping until 11:00am. I wander if he found some fun to get into on his way home?
